Ingredients
– 1 large loaf of Italian or French bread
– 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
– 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
– 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
– 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Equipment Needed
– Large skillet
– Baking sheet
– Aluminum foil
– Spatula
– Knife
– Cutting board
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). While the oven is warming up, I like to begin by sautéing the onions and peppers. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking them until they become soft and slightly caramelized, which usually takes about 7-10 minutes. It’s such a wonderful smell that fills the kitchen at this stage! When the veggies are done, remove them from the skillet and set them aside. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
