German Chocolate Poke Cake

Ingredients

– 1 box of German chocolate cake mix
– 1 can (12 oz) of evaporated milk
– 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
– 1 cup of shredded coconut
– 1 cup of chopped pecans
– 1 stick (1/2 cup) of unsalted butter
– 1 cup of powdered sugar
– 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Equipment Needed

– 9×13 inch baking pan
– Mixing bowls
– Electric mixer or whisk
– Wooden spoon or spatula
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Toothpick or skewer for poking holes

Step-by-Step Instructions

To get started on this delicious treat, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking pan. Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions, pouring it into the prepared pan once it’s mixed. Then, bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This part fills my kitchen with the most wonderful aromas that are hard to resist! Once baked, let the cake cool for about 10 minutes. Before it cools completely, use a toothpick or skewer to poke holes all over the top of the cake—don’t be shy; those holes are what will soak up that indulgent chocolate mixture!
