Ingredients
– 6 slices of white bread (I prefer Texas toast for its thickness)
– 1/4 cup of softened cream cheese
– 1/4 cup of brown sugar
– 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
– 3 large eggs
– 1/2 cup of milk
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 2 tablespoons of butter (for cooking)
– Maple syrup (for serving)
Equipment Needed
– Rolling pin
– Shallow dish (for egg mixture)
– Frying pan or skillet
– Spatula
– Baking sheet (optional, for warm servings)
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start off, I first trim the crusts off each slice of bread—this is totally optional, but I find it makes our roll-ups extra tender. After that, I gently roll each slice of bread out with a rolling pin to flatten it. This helps create that delightful roll-up appearance! Then, I spread a layer of softened cream cheese over each slice and sprinkle on the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll each slice up tightly, making sure the filling stays inside. Oh, the aroma is amazing already! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
