Decadent Chocolate Chip Brownie

Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter
– 2 cups granulated sugar
– 4 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark, your choice)
– Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Equipment Needed

– Large mixing bowl
– Whisk or electric mixer
– Rubber spatula
– 9×13 inch baking pan
– Parchment paper (for easy removal)
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Oven

Step-by-Step Instructions

To start, the first step is to preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). I find that taking the time to prepare my oven properly makes a huge difference in the final texture of the brownies. While that’s heating up, I like to line my 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal later. In a large mixing bowl, I melt my unsalted butter, and then I whisk in the granulated sugar until it’s nice and creamy. Next, I add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and follow up with the vanilla extract. The mixture should be smooth and glossy at this point.
