Blueberry Crumble Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade, if you prefer)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Equipment Needed

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Pastry cutter (optional but helpful)
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Oven mitts

Step-by-Step Instructions

First things first, I like to preheat my oven to 375°F (190°C). While it’s warming up, I wash the fresh blueberries and gently combine them in a mixing bowl with half a cup of sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. It’s amazing how the blueberries start to glisten and release their juices. It’s a sight that makes me excited for the final product! Once everything is mixed well, I set it aside to let the flavors meld together. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
