Ingredients
– 6 slices of bread (I love using challah or brioche for extra fluffiness)
– 2 ripe bananas, sliced
– 4 large eggs
– 1 cup milk (or almond milk for a lighter option)
– 1/4 cup sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– A pinch of salt
– Optional: chopped nuts or chocolate chips for topping
Equipment Needed
– 9×13 inch baking dish
– Mixing bowl
– Whisk
– Knife and cutting board
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Aluminum foil
Step-by-Step Instructions
The first thing I do is prepare my baking dish by greasing it lightly with butter or cooking spray; this helps the toast come out easily later. Next, I slice the bread into thick pieces and layer them in the dish. Then, I nestle those cute banana slices between the bread pieces for maximum flavor. Meanwhile, I whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well combined. Once the mixture is ready, I pour it over the layered bread and bananas to soak, ensuring everything is fully coated. If I have some extra time, I like to let this sit for about 30 minutes or even overnight in the fridge for best results. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
