Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz Swiss cheese, shredded
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Equipment Needed

  • Crockpot
  • Mixing bowl
  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Step-by-Step Instructions

To start making this flavorful meatloaf, I first heat a bit of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once it’s hot, I toss in the sliced onions and let them sauté until they become soft and golden brown, which usually takes about 10 minutes. The smell of caramelizing onions is one of my favorite things! After that, I add the minced garlic and stir it in for just a couple of minutes to bring out its flavor. This step really enhances the overall taste of the dish. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
