Ingredients
– 1 box yellow cake mix
– 1 cup water
– 1/3 cup vegetable oil
– 3 large eggs
– 1 cup unsalted butter (for the praline sauce)
– 1 cup packed brown sugar
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup chopped pecans
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt
Equipment Needed
– 9×13 inch baking pan
– Mixing bowls
– Electric mixer or whisk
– Saucepan
– Wooden spoon
– Toothpick (for poking the cake)
Step-by-Step Instructions
First things first, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, I combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Using my electric mixer, I mix it on low speed until everything is nicely blended before increasing to medium speed for about two minutes. I can already smell that sweet, buttery aroma wafting through my kitchen! Pour this luscious batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and pop it into the oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes, then we’ll tackle the fun part: making the holes! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
