Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef
– 8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
– 4 cups bread cubes (I love using a mix of white and whole wheat)
– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 4 large eggs
– 2 cups milk
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Optional: chopped pickles for garnish
Equipment Needed
– Large skillet
– Mixing bowls
– 9×13-inch casserole dish
– Whisk
– Spatula
– Oven mitts
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, I preheat my oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, I brown the ground beef, seasoning it with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. It only takes about 5-7 minutes for the beef to cook through and turn beautifully brown, releasing those savory scents that fill the kitchen. Once the beef is done, I drain any excess fat and mix in the crumbled bacon. It’s at this point that I can’t help but sneak a taste – it’s just too good! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
