Ingredients
– 1 can (about 400g) tuna in oil or spring water, drained
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (I love using panko for extra crunch!)
– 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
– 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
– 1 large egg
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Olive oil for frying
Equipment Needed
– Mixing bowl
– Fork (for flaking the tuna)
– Frying pan
– Spatula or fish turner
– Measuring cups and spoons
Step-by-Step Instructions
First, in a mixing bowl, I start flaking the drained tuna with a fork. I want it to be light and fluffy, not mushy. Then, I add in the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, parsley, egg, lemon juice, garlic powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. I mix everything together until well combined, making sure not to overwork the mixture – this keeps the patties tender and light. The smell at this point is just heavenly!
