Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef (you can also use turkey or chicken)
– 1 box Stove Top stuffing mix (for your preferred flavor)
– 1 cup water
– 1 large egg
– 1/2 cup chopped onion
– 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
Equipment Needed
– Large mixing bowl
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Loaf pan
– Spatula or spoon for mixing
– Aluminum foil (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This is the stage where the anticipation kicks in, as the scents of baking fill my kitchen. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, stuffing mix, water, egg, chopped onion, and any optional ingredients like bell pepper or cheese. Use your hands (my preferred method!) or a spatula to mix everything together until just combined. You don’t want to overwork the mixture, or your meatloaf might turn out tough. Once everything is nicely blended, transfer the mixture to a loaf pan, pressing it down to form an even shape. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
