Southern Style Hamburger Steak

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1 clove garlic, minced
– 1 cup breadcrumbs
– 1 large egg
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 2 cups beef broth
– 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
– 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Equipment Needed

– Large skillet
– Mixing bowl
– Wooden spoon or spatula
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Vegetable peeler and knife
– Serving platter

Step-by-Step Instructions

Firstly, start by placing the ground beef in a large mixing bowl. Add in the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Combine all these ingredients using your hands until fully mixed. I love getting my hands in there; it’s much easier than using a spoon! Once you have a uniform mixture, shape it into four patties. The mixture should be quite moist, so avoid over-handling to keep the patties tender. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
