Ingredients
- 6 medium-sized apples (I love using Granny Smith or Fuji)
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/4 cup of water
- Optional: A sprinkle of salt
Equipment Needed
- A slow cooker
- A cutting board
- A sharp knife
- A mixing bowl
- A measuring cup and spoons
Step-by-Step Instructions
To get started, peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin wedges. I find that this is the perfect size to ensure even cooking and tenderness. Once they’re sliced, toss them into a mixing bowl with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. The lemon juice adds a lovely brightness that cuts through the sweetness. Once everything is well-coated, pour in the melted butter and mix it again to ensure that each slice gets that delicious buttery flavor. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
