Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: breadcrumbs for topping
Equipment Needed
- Large skillet
- 9×13-inch baking dish
- Mixing bowl
- Wooden spoon or spatula
- Aluminum foil
Step-by-Step Instructions
First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is so important—nothing is worse than a casserole that doesn’t cook evenly because the oven wasn’t hot enough! While the oven is warming up, I always like to brown my ground beef or turkey in a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to give it some flavor. Cook until the meat is no longer pink, which usually takes about 5–7 minutes. Your kitchen will start to smell fantastic! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
