- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Equipment Needed
- Medium saucepan
- Whisk
- Mixing bowls
- 9×9-inch baking dish or trifle dish
- Rubber spatula
- Plastic wrap
Step-by-Step Instructions
To get started, I pour the milk into a medium saucepan and set it on medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling. In a separate mixing bowl, I whisk together the granulated sugar, flour, and salt. Once the milk is warm, I slowly whisk in the sugar mixture to avoid clumps. Then, I whisk together the egg yolks in another bowl. Gradually, I pour some of the warm milk mixture into the egg yolks, continuing to whisk until itβs smooth and fully combined. This tempering method keeps the yolks from scrambling in the pan!
